The Jack Backpackers only accepts bookings with a valid ID and a credit card will be required upon check-in. The Jack Backpackers is unsuitable for persons under the age of 18. Bookings made by any guests under the age of 18 will not be confirmed. We do not accept large group bookings, unless a group booking has been authorized.
Please note that we are a social hostel with a bar so noise is to be expected.
Our reception is open from 9am – 7pm. For out of hours check in, please call to arrange.
FAQ
How close is the City Centre?
We are situated in the City Centre, 2 minutes away from the Shopping Centre & 5 minutes away from the Esplanade, Lagoon & Reef Terminal.
Do you have kitchen facilities?
We have a kitchen & a BBQ area. You can rent plate sets for $10 at the reception.
How do I get to The Jack?
– From the Airport : a Taxi will cost you around $25 and will take approximately 12 minutes. The Airport Shuttle is $10 per person and will take approximately 30 minutes.
– From Greyhound bus stop : we are situated 5 blocks from the bus stop. It should take you around 10 minutes to walk to our hostel.
– From Premier bus stop: we are situated 2 blocks away from the bus stop. It should take you around 5 minutes to walk to our hostel.
Do you have any jobs available?
We do offer work for accommodation. We generally ask for 2 months commitment. You can email us your resume prior to your arrival date to see if we have any jobs available at backpack@thejack.com.au
Are there lockers in the room?
Yes, each guest gets locker for his valuable. You need to bring your own padlock.
What are the reception hours?
The reception is open from 9am-8pm. If you need to check in after the reception hours, we will organize a late check in for you. Please email or call us to let us know about your late arrival.
Do you offer early check in or late check out?
Unfortunately, due to high occupancy, we don’t offer early check in or late check out. If you would like to check in early, you need to pre-book the night before of your arrival.
Do you offer luggage storage?
Yes we do! You can store your luggage for free, at check in & at check out.
Where can I park?
We only offer parking space for the deluxe private rooms.There are parking spaces available 5 minutes drive from the hostel
Do you book tours?
Yes! We have a tour desk with local staff full of knowledge about the area. You can book tours prior to your arrival by emailing or calling us.
Do you offer an Airport Shuttle service?
We do not offer an Airport Shuttle for free but we can book the Cairns Airport Shuttle for you. Or you can book online through cairnsairportshuttle.com.au
Do you have a laundry?
Yes we offer laundry on the motel and hostel side. You can also buy washing powder for $2 at reception
Does the Wi-fi work in the rooms?
Yes the wi-fi works in all communal areas and every room. Guests get 500mb per day and if you would like to purchase extra is it $3
